Blackfilmandtv.com’s Wilson Morales recently caught up with David Oyelowo and spoke about the success he’s had with the Paramount+ TV series Lawmen: Bass Reeves. His performance as the title character has garnered him nominations for Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film, Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie, and a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Movie/Miniseries.

The anthology series stars executive producer and Emmy Award nominee David Oyelowo, Lauren E. Banks, Demi Singleton, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper, Donald Sutherland and Emmy Award nominee Dennis Quaid

Executive produced by Oscar nominee Taylor Sheridan and created for television by executive producer and showrunner Chad Feehan, the eight-episode season was produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions and Oyelowo’s Yoruba Saxon exclusively for Paramount+.

LAWMEN: BASS REEVES brings the legendary lawman and outlaws of the Wild West to life. Reeves (Oyelowo), known as the greatest frontier hero in American history, worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded. LAWMEN: BASS REEVES is an anthology series with future iterations that will follow other iconic lawmen and outlaws who have impacted history.

Oyelowo was recently seen in Jeymes Samuel’s The Book of Clarence opposite LaKeith Stanfield and starred in and produced the short film The After, which was nominated for an Academy Award. He also starred with Kaley Cuoco in the Prime Video action comedy film Role Play. He’s currently in production on the Apple TV+ comedy series Government Cheese, where he stars and executive produces.
