Exclusive: Catherine Laga'aia and Lin-Manuel Miranda talk Moana (Live Action film)
Hitting theaters on July 10 is the live-action movie based on an animated classic - Moana, with Dwayne Johnson back to star in this version as Maui again. It also stars actress Catherine Laga'aia as Moana instead of the original voice Auli'i Cravalho (who is still involved as an executive producer).
The cast also includes John Tui as Chief Tui, Frankie Adams, Rena Owen, & Gramma Tala.
In Disney's live-action adaptation of the beloved Oscar-nominated animated adventure, Moana (Catherine Laga'aia) answers the Ocean's call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people.
The screenplay is written by Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller; based on Disney's Moana animation screenplay by Jared Bush. It's produced by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
