Exclusive: Chris Chalk on playing Paul Drake in HBO’s Perry Mason Season 2

Currently airing on HBO is Season two of the Emmy-nominated HBO Original drama series Perry Mason, which stars Matthew Rhys, Juliet Rylance, Chris Chalk, Diarra Kilpatrick, Eric Lange, Justin Kirk, Katherine Waterston, Hope Davis, Fabrizio Guido, Peter Mendoza, Mark O’Brien, Paul Raci, Jen Tullock, Jon Chaffin, Onahoua Rodriguez, Jee Young Han, Sean Astin, Tommy Dewey, Shea Whigham, and Wallace Langham.

Months after the Dodson case has come to an end, the scion of a powerful oil family is brutally murdered. When the DA goes to the city's Hoovervilles to pinpoint the most obvious of suspects, Perry, Della, and Paul find themselves at the center of a case that will uncover far reaching conspiracies and force them to reckon with what it truly means to be guilty.

Chris Chalk plays Paul Drake, a former cop who occasionally does work for Perry Mason but got frustrated with Mason’s inconsistent payments. At the start of Season 2, Drake is doing surveillance work for someone else but come to find out that the job can cause more harm than good.

Over his career, Chalk has had a steady flow of acting gigs, on the big and small screen He played the adult Yusef Salaam in Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us, William Still in WGN’s Underground, Lucius Fox in Fox’s Gotham, and Gary Cooper in HBO’s Newsroom.
