Exclusive: Cinematographer Malik Hassan Sayeed talks Luca Guadagnino's After The Hunt

Currently in theaters in New York and Los Angeles  October 10 and expanding October 17 from Amazon MGM Studios is director Luca Guadagnino’s psychological thriller After The Hunt, starring Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloë Sevigny.

"Not everything is supposed to make you comfortable." AFTER THE HUNT is a gripping psychological drama about a college professor (Julia Roberts) who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student (Ayo Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Andrew Garfield), and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light.

Among the creative team is cinematographer Malik Hassan Sayeed. He previously photographed “Clockers,” “Girl 6,” and “He Got Game.” He was also the second unit director of photography on Stanley Kubrick's “Eyes Wide Shut.” Guadagnino has again hired Sayeed for his next film “Artificial.”

Beyond his acclaimed film work, Malik has been a defining visual force in music for decades. He helped shape the language of hip-hop cinema with Hype Williams’ Belly and has collaborated on some of the most iconic music videos of all time including Beyoncé’s “Formation,” Kanye West’s “Gold Digger,” Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor,” and projects with artists like D’Angelo and The Notorious B.I.G. His fingerprints are all over the evolution of how music is visualized and consumed.
