Exclusive: Eddington interviews director Ari Aster, Micheal Ward, and Luke Grimes
Hitting theaters on July 18 is Eddington, written and directed by Ari Aster and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O'Connell, Micheal Ward, Clifton Collins Jr., Amélie Hoeferle, William Belleau, plus Austin Butler & Emma Stone.
In May of 2020, a standoff between a small-town sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix) and mayor (Pedro Pascal) sparks a powder keg as neighbor is pitted against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico.
Aster first collaborated with Phoenix on last year’s surreal horror comedy Beau Is Afraid, which earned the actor a Golden Globe nomination. Prior to that, he helmed the Swedish cult horror Midsommar, starring Florence Pugh. He first broke out with 2018’s Hereditary, starring Toni Collette.
Ward starred in Sam Mendes’s 2022 drama Empire of Light for which he was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. His films include Blue Story and The Old Guard .On television, he appeared as Jamie in the Netflix show Top Boy and The A List as well as BBC's Small Axe. Ward was awarded the 2020 BAFTA Rising Star Award.
Grimes is set to star in the Yellowstone sequel Y: Marshals (working title) in which he will be reprising his role as Kayce Dutton. He previously played Christian Grey's little brother, Elliot, in the film Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), and its sequels, Fifty Shades Darker (2017) and Fifty Shades Freed (2018).
