Premiering June 11 exclusively on ALLBLK from Bouldercrest Films and Tycor International Film Company is Funny Thing About Love, a bold new HBCU romance film starring Kourtney George (a.k.a Hurt Bae), Courtney Burrell. Set against the backdrop of HBCU culture and modern Black professional life, the film arrives at a pivotal cultural moment, when audiences are loudly demanding more Black love stories told with nuance, wit, and cinematic ambition.
Directed by Tailiah Breon and written by Christel Gibson (story by Kameron Bain), the cast also includes Rockmond Dunbar, Jeff Logan, Jessie Woo, Bobb’e J. Thompson, Rolonda Rochelle, Reece Odum and Trina Braxton.
The film tells the story of former college sweethearts forced to confront unresolved feelings, changing ambitions, and the emotional complexities of adulthood during an unforgettable homecoming weekend in Atlanta. Bestselling author Miles Morris returns to his ten-year college reunion and walks straight back into the orbit of the woman he never stopped loving. What unfolds is a layered, funny, and achingly real portrait of second chances, buried secrets, and the complicated business of Black love. Blending romance, comedy, and heartfelt drama, the film celebrates Black love, friendship, nostalgia, and the enduring impact of the HBCU experience.
