Exclusive: Keke Palmer talks Disney+ series Foodtastic

Hitting Disney+ on December 15 is its original series “Foodtastic,” hosted by the multitalented, Emmy® award-winning actress Keke Palmer.

“Foodtastic” is an immersive global competition series in which highly skilled artists create extravagant scene work and larger-than-life sculptures made entirely out of food. From vegetables and butter to fruit and cheese, these everyday items are transformed into works of art. Each episode is rooted in iconic Disney IP and the food-based builds are an extension of that world. FLOUR SHOP founder Amirah Kassem and NYC's City Cakes founder chef Benny Rivera serve as food art experts on the series. "Foodtastic" is produced by Endemol Shine North America.

In addition to Palmer, Josh Silberman, Sarah Happel Jackson and Endemol Shine North America’s Sharon Levy, DJ Nurre and Michael Heyerman are executive producers.

Palmer is currently lending her voice to “Maya” in Disney+'s revival of the “The Proud Family” and “Rochelle” in Netflix’s new “Big Mouth” spinoff “Human Resources” after appearing in Season 5 of “Big Mouth.” She can be heard voicing the role of “Brynn” opposite Pete Davidson in Broadway Video’s Audible scriptedpodcast “Hit Job” and is set to star as the lead in Jordan Peele’s next feature at Universal. Earlier this year, she was nominated for an Emmy Award for her portrayal of the five Taylor family members in her own series, “Turnt Up With the Taylors” which she produced with Kids at Play for Facebook Watch based on the original characters who rose to popularity on her social media.

BlackFilmandTV.com correspondent Sidnee Michelle caught up with Palmer as she about the series for Disney+.
