Exclusive: Mark Hamill Talks The Long Walk & Meeting Stephen King

Hitting theaters on Sept. 12 from Lionsgate is The Long Walk, directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Cooper Hoffman (from Licorice Pizza, Saturday Night) + David Jonsson (from Alien: Romulus), Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, Josh Hamilton, with Judy Greer, and Mark Hamill.

The screenplay is written by JT Mollner and based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King (under the pseudonym Richard Bachman).

From the highly anticipated adaptation of master storyteller Stephen King’s first-written novel, and Francis Lawrence, the visionary director of The Hunger Games franchise films (Catching Fire, Mockingjay – Pts. 1 & 2, and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), comes THE LONG WALK, an intense, chilling, and emotional thriller that challenges audiences to confront a haunting question: how far could you go?

The Long Walk takes place in the future in which 100 teenage boys embark on an annual competition known as “The Long Walk.” The rules are simple: maintain a speed above 4 miles per hour. Receive three warnings in an hour and you’re shot dead. The last one walking gets whatever he wants for the rest of his life. Under these grim circumstances the boys develop deep friendships despite knowing that each of their friends’ survival is a threat to their own.

Blackfilmandtv.com's Wilson Morales talks to Mark Hamill on his role in The Long Walk and meeting Stephen King. He plays The Major in film and also starred in The Life of Chuck, another of King’s adaptations.
