Exclusive: Director Michael Giacchino, Laura Donnelly & Co-Executive Producer Brian Gay talk Werewolf By Night

Streaming exclusively on Disney+ starting October 7th as a special presentation from Marvel is Werewolf By Night.

On a dark and somber night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader. In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic—a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster. Inspired by horror films of the 1930s and 1940s, the chilling special aims to evoke a sense of dread and the macabre, with plenty of suspense and scares along the way as we explore a new corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The cast includes Gael García Bernal as Jack Russell / Werewolf by Night, along with Laura Donnelly and Harriet Sansom Harris. Other cast member include Al Hamacher, Billy Swan, Eugenie Bondurant, Kirk Thatcher, Leonardo Nam, Jaycob Maya, Jake Gomez, and Daniel J. Watts.

As one of Hollywood’s most prolific composers, Giacchino has had a long history with Disney, having scored Pixar’s The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up, which netted him an Oscar, Cars 2, Inside Out, Incredible 2, Coco, and more recently Lightyear. On the Marvel side, he worked on Doctor Strange, the Tom Holland trilogy of Spider-Man movies and Thor: Love and Thunder. His non-Disney and Marvel have included films and series by J.J. Abrams such as Lost and the reboot of Star Trek and recently The Batman.

As Elsa Bloodstone, Donnelly is best known for her work on stage, having won Best Actress Award at the Olivier Awards for her portrayal of Caitlin in the West End, critically acclaimed and sold-out production of Jez Butterworth’s “The Ferryman,” directed by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes. The “Ferryman” was inspired by Donnelly’s family history, and she completed her reprisal on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Donnelly currently takes on the leading role in HBO’s fantasy series “The Nevers.”

Brian Gay is a Director of Production & Development at Marvel Studios. During his 6 years with Marvel he has worked across a variety of projects in both theatrical and streaming, serving as co-executive producer on WEREWOLF BY NIGHT and as a creative executive on the upcoming ANT-MAN & THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA and the first season of LOKI. Prior to joining Marvel Studios as the lead in Kevin Feige’s office, Brian worked in communications for The Walt Disney Studios.
