Exclusive: The Bride! interviews with Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale
Hitting theaters on March 6th from Warner Bros. is The Bride!, written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and starring Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale. Inspired by Mary Shelley's original "Frankenstein," the cast also includes Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz.
There's a monster inside us all... A lonely Frankenstein (Christian Bale) travels to Chicago in the 1930s to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. So the two revive a murdered woman and The Bride (Jessie Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!
Produced by Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler, Osnat Handelsman Keren, Maggie Gyllenhaal. With music composed by Hildur Gudnadóttir.
Gyllenhaal is an Oscar-nominated actress, director, producer and screenwriter. Her screen adaptation of Elena Ferrante’s novel, The Lost Daughter, starring Olivia Colman, Dakota Johnson, and Jessie Buckley, which she adapted, was nominated for three Oscars: Best Actress (Colman), Best Supporting Actress (Buckley) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Gyllenhaal).
