TIFF 2025 Exclusive: Whitetail interviews with Writer/ Director Nanouk Leopold and actress Natasha O'Keeffe
Among the films that premiered at the 50th annual Toronto International Film Festival in the Centrepiece section was the international film Whitetail, written and directed by Nanouk Leopold.
The cast includes Natasha O'Keeffe, Andrew Bennett, Aaron McCusker, Rory Nolan, Simone Kirby, Aidan O'Hare, Abby Fitz, Seán Treacy, and Hélène Patarot.
In the isolated beauty of southern Ireland, Jen works as a conservation ranger in the same woods where, years ago, her younger sister lost her life in a tragic accident. The sudden return of Oscar, a boyfriend from her distant past, stirs memories long buried, forcing her to confront their shared history. As a poacher begins leaving violent traces across the land she protects, the line between past and present starts to blur and Jen has to face what's been haunting her all along.
Leopold’s previous features include Îles flottantes (01), Guernsey (05), It's All So Quiet (13), Cobain (18), and the Festival Official Selections Wolfsbergen (07) and Brownian Movement (10). Whitetail (25) is her latest film.
O'Keeffe is perhaps best known for herrole as ‘Lizzy Shelby’ in the BBC’s smash hit Peaky Blinders .You can watch Natasha reprising her role as Lanfearin Amazon series three of The Wheel of Time opposite Rosamund Pike and she recently reprised her role of Charlotte Ross in C.B. Strike: The Ink BlackHeart for BBC One.
