David Oyelowo’s short ‘The After’ now playing on Netflix

Now playing on Netflix is renowned photographer, social activist and cultural commentator Misan Harriman’s short film directorial debut, THE AFTER, starring David Oyelowo.

The short also stars Jessica Plummer, Izuka Hoyle, Dominique Tipper, Nikesh Patel, Ruth Sheen, Alan Williams, and Ellen Francis.

Based on a story by Harriman, with a screenplay by new writer John Julius Schwabach, THE AFTER is a powerful and affecting story that follows Dayo (Oyelowo), a Londoner who has to reconnect with himself and society after witnessing a devastating random attack in the capital.  THE AFTER world premiered at the Oscar®-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival, where it won Best Live Action Short.

Misan Harriman was the first Black person to shoot the September cover of British Vogue. A self-taught photographer, his striking images have been featured in the likes of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and The Telegraph. 

Producers of The After are Nicky Bentham (The Duke, Locked In) of Neon Films, and Oyelowo via his Yoruba Saxon Productions (A United Kingdom, The Water Man).
