Tia Mowry To Star & Executive Produce Lifetime’s Single Black Tenant

Tia Mowry (Family Reunion, The Game, Instant Mom) returns to Lifetime to star and executive produce Single Black Tenant, part of the network’s Ripped from the Headlines slate for this summer. The movie, inspired by actual events, follows a woman who begins to suspect that the home she thought would save her may ultimately destroy her.

Single Black Tenant premieres on Saturday, June 27 at 8/7c and marks Mowry’s seventh collaboration with Lifetime, where she has become a staple of the network’s annual holiday movie lineup.

Inspired by actual events, Single Black Tenant centers on Esme Williams (Tia Mowry), who after years of scraping by, finally believes her luck has turned after landing an affordable apartment in a quiet Cleveland neighborhood. But her relief quickly gives way to fear when she begins to suspect she’s living with a killer who is trying to frame her for murder. As disturbing clues pile up including her landlord Angie’s increasingly erratic behavior and the discovery of blood-soaked rags in a vacant upstairs unit, Esme starts to believe Angie may have killed the real landlord and is setting her up as the scapegoat. With the police refusing to step in, Esme takes matters into her own hands, obsessively piecing together evidence until the truth can no longer be ignored.

Single Black Tenant is produced by Bruce Harvey for CMW Mountain Productions Inc. in association with Studio TF1 America.  Timothy O. Johnson, Laurie Pozmantier, Stacy Mandelberg and Tia Mowry serve as executive producers. Stacey N. Harding directs from a script written by Yuri Baranovsky and Angela Gulner.
