Exclusive: Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry talk heist thriller 'Crime 101'
Hitting theaters on Feb. 13 from Amazon MGM Studios is the heist thriller ‘Crime 101,’ directed by Bart Layton and starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tate Donovan, Paul Adelstein with Nick Nolte and Halle Berry.
Set against the sun-bleached grit of Los Angeles, Crime 101 weaves the tale of an elusive thief (Chris Hemsworth) whose high-stakes heists unfolding along the iconic 101 freeway have mystified police. When he eyes the score of a lifetime with hopes of this being his final job, his path collides with a disillusioned insurance broker (Halle Berry) who is facing her own crossroads, forcing them to collaborate.
Determined to crack the case, a relentless detective (Mark Ruffalo) closes in on the operation, raising the stakes even higher. As the multimillion-dollar heist approaches, the line between hunter and hunted begins to blur, and all three are forced to confront the cost of their choices–and the realization that there's no turning back.
Adapted from Don Winslow’s acclaimed novella of the same name, the film was produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Derrin Schlesinger, Dimitri Doganis, Bart Layton, Shane Salerno, Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Grayson.
Berry’s acting career includes her historic 2002 win as the first, and only, African American woman to receive the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Monster’s Ball. She also starred in and produced Introducing Dorothy Dandridge for HBO, for which she won both the Emmy and Golden Globe, and starred in and produced Frankie and Alice, which garnered her a Globe nomination.
Additional credits include Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever, Boomerang with Eddie Murphy, X-Men, Die Another Day, The Call, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, and, most recently, Netflix’s The Union. Through her production company HalleHolly, Berry has produced and starred in the Lionsgate thriller Never Let Go.
