Exclusive: Crystal Fox talks about her amazing role in Netflix's His & Hers series with Tessa Thompson
Currently streaming on Netflix is the series His & Hers, executive produced and starring Tessa Thompson with Jon Bernthal. The cast also includes Pablo Schreiber, Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Marin Ireland, and Poppy Liu.
The six-episode limited series from William Oldroyd and adapted from Alice Feeney’s novel is set in the sweltering heat of Atlanta where Anna (Thompson) lives in haunting reclusivity and is fading away from her friends and career as a journalist. But when she overhears about a murder in Dahlonega – the sleepy town where she grew up – she is snapped back to life, pouncing on the case and searching for answers. Detective Jack Harper (Bernthal) is strangely suspicious of her involvement, chasing her into the crosshairs of his own investigation. There are two sides to every story, his and hers, which means someone is always lying.
Fox plays Alice, Anna’s mother, who still lives in her house in Dahlonega, Georgia. Strong, says what she thinks, lives alone but maybe shouldn’t. She hasn’t heard from her daughter in a year, but she knows why. Her son-in-law, Detective Jack Harper, has been watching over her as her health has been in decline which has resulted in some odd behavior around town.
Best known for her television roles as Luann Corbin in the NBC/CBS police drama series In the Heat of the Night (1989–1995), and as Hanna Young in the OWN prime time soap opera, The Haves and the Have Nots (2013–2021), Fox previously starred in “Driving Miss Daisy,” “In the Heat of the Night,” “Big Little Lies,” and Tyler Perry’s “A Fall From Grace” and more.
