Exclusive: David Oyelowo talks psychological thriller ‘Newborn’ and working with director Nate Parker

Hitting AMC Theaters exclusively starting on April 10 from AMC Theatres & Mansa is the psychological thriller Newborn, written and directed by Nate Parker and starring David Oyelowo as Newborn, Aiden StoxxBarry PepperOlivia WashingtonJimmie Fails, and Rukiya Bernard.

After a wrongfully imprisoned man (Oyelowo) endures the mental torture of seven years of solitary confinement he is released into a world in which self-isolation is the new normal. As he tries to rebuild a life with his fiancé (Washington) and son, he is plagued by deep-seated trauma which creates unimaginable danger for both him and the family he's battling to protect.

The film was produced by Aaron L. Gilbert, David Oyelowo, Nate Parker, Christina Lee Storm.

A veteran of numerous films and TV projects, Oyelowo’s most recent projects include playing Holston Becker in the Apple+ drama series Silo, starring in and co-producing the 2023 Paramount+ western series Lawmen: Bass Reeves, which garnered him a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film for his performance. He also starred and executive produced the Apple TV+ series Government Cheese. His short The After was nominated for Best Live Action Short Film at the 2024 Academy Awards. He starred with Kaley Cuoco in the Prime Video film Role Play.
