Exclusive: Whitney Peak, Phoebe Dynevor, and Djimon Hounsou talk Shark film ‘Thrash’

Premiering on Netflix on April 10 is the shark movie Thrash, written and directed by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola, and starring Phoebe DynevorWhitney Peak, and Djimon Hounsou, with Matt NableAndrew LeesAlyla BrowneStacy Clausen, and Dante Ubald.

"First comes the flood, then comes the frenzy." Amidst a catastrophic Category 5 hurricane, a coastal town battles nature's wrath and an onslaught of sharks brought in by the storm surge. Braving torrential rain, debris, and darkness, they unite to survive the deadly predators and make it through the storm without being eaten

The film was produced by Adam McKay, Kevin Messick, and Tommy Wirkola.

Dynevor plays Lisa Fields: A pregnant woman trapped in a car in the middle of a hurricane trying to get away from the raging waves and the sharks they bring.

Whitney Peak is Dakota Edwards: Dale's agoraphobic niece, who at first, skeptical, dismisses the idea of a Category 5 hurricane approaching her town, but soon realizes the gravity of the situation

Djimon Hounsou plays Dale Edwards: A marine researcher trying to help people trapped on the town as they had been cut off from any rescue attempt.

Best known for her role of Daphne Bridgerton in the first two seasons of the hugely popular Netflix series Bridgerton, Dynevor was also seen starring opposite Alden Ehrenreich in the Netflix thriller Fair Play, which garnered a BAFTA nomination for her work. Other credits include Inheritancefrom filmmaker Neil Burger and Anniversary, which also stars Diane Lane, and Zoey Deutch.

Peak starred in the HBO Max revival of Gossip Girl (2021–2023). Her other work includes the Apple TV+ series Home Before Dark, the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the Disney+ film Hocus Pocus 2, and more recently the action film Trap House. She is set to play Lenore Dove Baird in the upcoming film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (2026).

A veteran of many films, with a couple of Oscar nominations to his credit, Hounsou’s recent films includeRebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire (both 2023), Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver and A Quiet Place: Day One (both 2024).
