Crystal Renee Hayslett Set As Lead For Courtney Glaudé’s Conditioned, First Film Under Tyler Perry Studios’ Maxscene
While on a panel discussing Tyler Perry Studios’s Maxccene at yesterday CultureCon, it was announced that Crystal Renee Hayslett will be the lead to writer-director Courtney Glaudé’s psychological thriller Conditioned.
The film is the first to be release through Maxscene, a specialty division under Tyler Perry Studios dedicated to expanding theatrical opportunities for filmmakers with distinctive voices. Conditioned is slated for theaters in early 2027.
The Logline to the film states: To the world, Nyla Belle's marriage appears perfect, but as the steady patterns of control tighten around her, she's pushed into a Stockholm-like bond-one that builds toward a breaking point that she never saw coming.
Hayslett is known for her role as portraying Fatima Wilson-Taylor in the hit BET series Tyler Perry’s Sistas, currently on its tenth season, and leading the dramedy’s Paramount+ spinoff series Zatima, now on its fourth season. Hayslett was a ilso featured in Universal Pictures’ Praise This and has appeared in projects including The Game and Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming.
Glaudé was tapped in 2024 as Executive Creator of Scripted and Unscripted as part of a new overall deal with Tyler Perry Studios. Through the deal, he has developed and produced both scripted and unscripted content for television and film for the studio.. Glaudé’s additional credits include serving as the writer and director of the short film Old Gray Mare, which won the Best Film, Best Director and Best Script at the BronzeLens Awards and screened at the American Black Film Festival, the Martha’s Vineyard African-American Film Festival and the Atlanta Film Festival. His feature directorial debut, The Reading, executive produced by Lee Daniels, premiered on BET+ in February 2023.
