Fitch Jean's ‘It Comes In Waves’ To Open 25th Reelworld Film Festival

Selected as the Opening Night Film for the 25th Reelworld Film Festival will be director Fitch Jean's It Comes In Waves, starring Adrian Walters and Nendia Lewars.

The film will screen on Oct 16th, 7pm-9pm [Followed by Q&A]

The cast also includes Oluniké Adeliyi, Marium Carvell, Tomas Chovanec, Katherine Stella Duncan, Chidubem Rafael Echendu, Tim Finnigan, Franckie Francois, Kaburere Ganda, Ron J. Hamelin, Emmanuel Kabongo, Stefan Keyes, Camille Ella Laborde, Brandon McKnight, Elijah Obasi, Mittal Patel and Ryan Rosery in supporting roles.

Written by Fitch Jean and Sammy Mohamed, the film was produced by Amir Zargara. Executive Producer: include Fitch Jean, Weggon Allen, Adrian Walters, Lovell Adams-Gray, Franck Fon, and Kerbens Boisette.

After escaping the Rwandan genocide, a family of four hopes for a better life in Canada, but are haunted by their traumatic past.

Akai (Adrian Walters) escapes home homeland, but not before witnessing a horrendous act of violence that leaves him mentally scarred. A promising track star who diligently works at a local variety store, Akai is a good kid with a bright future. Until tragedy strikes once again. With no real plan and a limited support system, Akai is forced to do whatever it takes to keep his family together.

The film premiered at the American Black Film Festival in June 2025, and had its Canadian premiere at the 2025 Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival.
