Exclusive: ‘Doing Life’ Cast Interviews with Jay Reeves and Naomi Baker
Hitting Netflix on October 2 is Doing Life, written and directed by Tyler Perry and starring Naomi Baker, Jay Reeves, Tamberla Perry, Karen Obilom, Jasmine Sargent, Lucky Johnson, and Danielle Moné Truitt.
The story follows a struggling single mother who previously worked as a corrections officer and an incarcerated man serving time for a crime committed when he was young. After he saves her and her baby's life during a prison riot at Hollow Correctional, the two develop a bond through letters and eventually navigate a relationship outside prison walls despite family disapproval and the shadow of his past.
Doing Life reunites Perry with Reeves, who played Private Hugh Bell in The Six Triple Eight. Reeves recently starred as Jamel Brinkley in Courtney A. Kemp’s high-stakes Netflix crime drama Nemesis and guest-starred as Roner in an episode of Marshalls, the hit Paramount+ drama series set in the Yellowstone universe. Reeves reprised his notable recurring role as Shawn Scott on All American during the 2024 broadcast season of the CW sports drama.
